COVID-19 TOOLKIT
In the time of unprecedented crisis, communication is key.
This part of the Medline website provides healthcare providers with answers to frequently asked questions as well as key information to help reduce risk in the workplace.
Exam Glove Disinfection Guidance
Medline anticipates a severe exam glove supply shortage as early as 15 May 2020. The most practical solution is to use fewer exam gloves. When a shortage of gloves makes it necessary, a viable, effective and inexpensive emergency protocol may be for healthcare workers to rinse their hands to remove visible soil, and then either spray, wipe, or dip their gloved hands in a receptacle containing a disinfectant solution (such as bleach), without replacing their gloves.
Medline is not aware of any existing glove disinfection protocol, recommendation, or practical guide that can be easily and effectively implemented in a fast-paced healthcare setting. Therefore, Medline would like to offer our research, test data, and practical solutions to help your development of a protocol.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I am unable to access Medline product through my regular supply route (e.g. NHS Supply Chain), will I be able to source it direct from Medline?
A: Unfortunately, no. To protect our customers, we are allocating product based on previous usage, in order to maintain a month-on-month supply. If you are already sourcing product through a particular supply route, they will have received an allocation. You will need to liaise with that particular supplier about their allocation policy.
Q: I have used up my allocation, when can I order more?
A: At the start of a new month. This is when the allocation opens up again. Please stay in touch with your local Medline account manager to understand what your allocations are for each product, as the situation continues to change.
Q: What alternatives can I order?
A: We would ask you not to substitute out of stock lines for other Medline items, as it will result in more products that will be added to the allocations list.
Q: I want to start ordering masks and other PPE items from Medline, when is the earliest I could start ordering?
A: Unfortunately, we are not able to accept any new business for these products, until further notice. Please stay in touch with your local Medline account manager for updates on the situation.
Q: How long can I wear a Medline respirator (FFP3) mask?
A: For up to 8 hours in line with Medline instructions for use. However, please note, you cannot replace the mask once removed.
Q: Can Medline respirator (FFP3) masks be used with a Portacount machine?
A: Yes, they can be used with a Portacount machine; however, you can also fit test using the hood method.
