Medline Lays Foundation Stone for Expansion Project in Slovakia
28 th December 2020
Currently, Medline rents office and factory space, which supports our SPT division, in Bánovce nad Bebravou, Slovakia. With expectations of continued growth, Medline has decided to build its own facility nearby to support its long-term expansion. In addition to becoming a stable presence in the local community, the new facility will enable Medline to increase its footprint in Europe, expand sales into Eastern Europe and better address our customers’ needs by producing more products and solutions.
Medline has selected a 194,174 m2 piece of land close to Partizánske in the Malé Bielice industrial park for a brand-new manufacturing facility. This project represents an investment of €24 million, including a 20,000 m2 building. The 10-year forecast indicates that this investment will generate about 300 new jobs in the local community in addition to the 200 people already employed.
To mark the official start of this monumental project, Medline hosted a Foundation Stone Ceremony on 8 December. The corona-proof ceremony included live and virtual speeches from Medline representatives and the Mayor of Partizánske. In addition, the foundation stone was tapped, and a lunch reception was provided with the opportunity for the press to ask questions.
The Mayor of Partizánske, Jozef Božik, expressed that the new plant is a very beneficial project for Partizánske as it will provide lots of new job opportunities for the local community, which is very important, especially in these difficult times with a pandemic. Moreover, he added that Medline has an important role in the development of the industrial park in Malé Bielice as its presence will add value to this location.
Production in this new facility is on track to begin in early 2022, which means construction is beginning very soon.
