Medline Group Completes EcoVadis Assessment, Earning ‘Committed’ Badge
5 th November 2024
The Medline Group is now part of a growing community of companies making strides in the prioritisation of environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices, earning an EcoVadis Committed Badge. The recognition is based on global sustainability results Medline published in September 2024.
In August 2024, EcoVadis—a global platform that screens businesses of all sizes and rates their sustainability-related activities—reported that ‘more companies are mastering sustainability fundamentals to reduce risk, build resilience and prepare for due diligence’.
EcoVadis medals and badges recognise eligible companies that have completed a targeted assessment process and demonstrated a relatively strong management system that addresses key sustainability criteria. These cover the environment, labour and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement.
Medline’s EcoVadis rating
While an EcoVadis medal or badge is not a form of certification or an endorsement of a company or its products and services, it is an acknowledgement of its achievements in ensuring sustainable operations and/or output. Each company is scored in comparison to other assessed companies in the EcoVadis database. The Medline Group’s ‘Commitment’ badge is due, in part, to its:
• Ethical Sourcing Programme - Designed to help ensure a supply chain that is reflective of the company’s values, while facilitating sustainable and responsible supply chain management. For example, Medline was first in its field to use the Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP) certification process, covering its entire glove manufacturing process.
• Efforts to achieve more overall sustainable operations and products - Across its global manufacturing and warehousing facilities, Medline has a range of solar panel installations. Medline is also increasing investment to undertake life cycle assessments (LCAs) on key product ranges, allowing for a data-driven approach to mitigate negative environmental impacts.
Medline earning an EcoVadis Committed Badge underscores its long-term commitment to achieving regulatory compliance and building a global brand that is supported by strong ESG credentials, while differentiating itself as a medical devices partner of choice. Additionally, it is an acknowledgement that the group is moving in the right direction, as it continues to integrate sustainable practices into its product development, process designs and overall service delivery.
